Currently, web search is handled by a Google Search Appliance (GSA) hosted on campus. We are moving away from that appliance to Google Site Search (GSS), hosted on Google’s servers. The impacts to campus are:
- Reduced cost
- Reduced maintenance
- Improved search results
- Current queries to the GSA may no longer work
Looking at the configuration of the GSA identified many items which were no longer valid. The invalid configurations have not been migrated to the GSS, and a process is in place which will prevent the configuration decay on a going-forward basis.
